My favorite part about teaching at Johnson is: Developing leaders who “above every other desire seek to expand the kingdom of God.

When I’m not teaching, I love to: Hike, camp, and explore in the Smoky Mountains.

In my classes, students can expect: A clear connection between faith and business and a hands-on learning approach.

My best advice to a new student in my program is: Start with your “why and go from there. If you believe that every human action can and should be done in a way that brings glory to God, you will love this program.

Because of my influence, I most want my students to become: Culturally competent leaders who are passionate about creating and leading effective organizations for the purpose of participating in God’s redemptive work.

The myth-busting truth about my discipline I most want people to understand is: Business is not a “secular discipline, because there is no such thing. Commerce, like anything else, can be used to share the gospel. Some become preachers, some become missionaries, and our students become excellent business professionals.

A quote that influences how I live is: “I see no conflict whatsoever between Christianity and good business practices. People say you can’t mix business with religion. I say there’s no other way. – S. Truett Cathy
